One system for heating and cooling, built for the cold

A heat pump is an air conditioner that runs in reverse in winter, moving heat from outside air into the house. Modern cold-climate models do that well below zero, which is why they've become the most common system we install in new builds and remodels across the valley.

Pair one with a gas furnace and you get dual fuel: the heat pump carries the mild months at a fraction of the cost, the furnace takes the coldest nights. Go all-electric and you get one system, one outdoor unit and the biggest rebates on the table.

We size the system from a load calculation, set it up for Idaho's temperature swings, and commission it properly. You'll feel the difference in evenness, not just the bill.

Good fits

When a heat pump is the right call

Replacing AC and furnace together

If both are due, a heat pump plus a furnace, or a heat pump alone, is usually cheaper than two separate systems.

All-electric homes

Homes without gas service get real winter heat without baseboards or resistance strips doing the work.

Additions and shops

Ductless heat pumps heat and cool a garage, shop or addition without running ductwork.

Chasing rebates

Utility rebates and federal tax credits for qualifying heat pumps are the largest available for any HVAC equipment.

Do heat pumps work in Boise winters?

Yes, if you buy the right one. The cold-climate inverter models we install are rated to deliver their full heating capacity down to about 5 degrees and keep running well below that. On the handful of nights a year it drops near zero, a dual-fuel furnace or a small backup heater covers the gap.

The older reputation came from standard heat pumps that lost capacity below 35 degrees and leaned on electric strips. That's not what we sell.

Heat Pump Installation questions

Will a heat pump raise my electric bill?+

It will raise the electric bill and lower the gas bill. Across a year, most Treasure Valley homes come out ahead, especially with utility rates where they are. We'll show you the comparison for your home.

What's a dual-fuel system?+

A heat pump paired with a gas furnace. The thermostat runs the heat pump in mild weather and switches to the furnace below a set outdoor temperature. You get the efficiency of the heat pump and the backup of gas.

How long do heat pumps last?+

Fifteen years is typical, longer with maintenance. Because the same unit runs year round, twice-a-year service matters more than it does for a furnace.

Do I need backup heat?+

With a cold-climate model, often not. With a standard heat pump, yes. We'll size the system and tell you honestly whether your home needs it.

What your neighbors are saying

★★★★★
“Our furnace quit on a Sunday night in January. They were here Monday morning, showed me the cracked igniter, gave me a price and had it running in under an hour. No upsell, no drama.”

“Second opinion saved us thousands. Another company said we needed a whole new system. Bright Peak found a failed capacitor and a dirty coil. That was two summers ago and it's still running fine.”
Lisa H. · Meridian
★★★★★
“They installed two ductless heads in our old North End house in a day. The crew was polite, cleaned up, and walked us through the remotes. We finally have air conditioning.”
