Does your home qualify? Probably.

High-efficiency heating and cooling equipment comes with money attached: rebates from the gas and electric utilities, federal tax credits for qualifying heat pumps and water heaters, and occasional state programs. The amounts change year to year and the rules are picky about which models count.

We keep track so you don't have to. When we quote a system, you'll see every rebate and credit the model qualifies for, and we handle the utility paperwork. The tax credit paperwork we hand you with the invoice.

Utility rebates

The gas utility typically rebates high-efficiency furnaces and tankless water heaters; the electric utility rebates ducted heat pumps, ductless heat pumps that replace electric heat, and higher-efficiency air conditioners. Amounts run from a hundred or so dollars to several hundred, depending on the equipment and the year's program. We submit these for you after installation.

Federal tax credits

Qualifying heat pumps, heat-pump water heaters and certain high-efficiency furnaces and air conditioners are eligible for a federal energy-efficiency tax credit, a percentage of the cost up to an annual cap. The equipment has to meet a specific efficiency tier, and you need a tax liability to apply it against. We'll tell you which of the models we quote qualify and give you the paperwork. Confirm the details with your tax preparer.

Income-qualified rebates

Federally funded home electrification rebates for lower- and moderate-income households cover a large share of a heat pump's cost when the program is open in Idaho. Availability comes and goes with funding. Ask, and we'll tell you where it stands the week you're deciding.

Rebate questions

Do you apply the rebate to my price?+

Utility rebates are paid to you by the utility after we submit the paperwork, usually within a few weeks. We show them on the quote so you can see the net cost.

How do I claim the federal credit?+

On your tax return for the year the equipment was installed, with the certificate we provide. Your tax preparer handles the form.

Can rebates and credits be combined?+

Usually, yes. A heat pump can qualify for a utility rebate and the federal credit at the same time.
