Heating and cooling without the ductwork

A lot of Boise's best houses were built before central air. North End bungalows, Bench ranches, older Nampa homes with radiators or baseboards. Running ductwork through them costs a fortune and takes up space nobody has.

A ductless mini-split solves that. One outdoor unit, one or more quiet indoor heads, a small line through the wall, and each room gets its own thermostat. The modern ones heat as well as they cool, down to well below zero.

Ductless is a specialty for us. We've installed them in cabins in McCall, garages in Eagle and short-term rentals downtown, and we'll tell you honestly whether one is right for your house.

Ductless services

Who ductless is for

Older homes without ductwork. Additions, finished garages and bonus rooms over the garage that the main system never reached. Homes with window units they'd like to be rid of. Short-term rentals where guests fight over the thermostat. And anyone who wants a different temperature in the bedroom than the living room.

Why they cost less to run

Ducted systems lose a share of their heat and cooling in the ductwork before it reaches a room. Ductless delivers it straight into the room. The inverter compressor ramps up and down instead of cycling on and off, which is quieter and uses less power. Together that's why mini-splits are among the most efficient ways to heat and cool a space.

Ductless Systems questions

Do ductless heat pumps work in cold weather?+

The cold-climate models we install hold full output to about 5 degrees and keep heating well below zero. They've become the standard for cabins in the mountains, which gets colder than Boise ever does.

How many indoor heads do I need?+

One per room or zone you want to control. A single-zone system handles a garage or an addition; a multi-zone outdoor unit can run up to five heads for a whole house.

Are mini-splits ugly?+

The wall units are white, slim and quiet. If you'd rather not see one, ceiling cassettes sit flush in the ceiling and floor-mounted units tuck under a window.

How long does installation take?+

A single-zone system is usually done in a day. Multi-zone whole-house systems take two or three.

What your neighbors are saying

★★★★★
“Our furnace quit on a Sunday night in January. They were here Monday morning, showed me the cracked igniter, gave me a price and had it running in under an hour. No upsell, no drama.”

“Second opinion saved us thousands. Another company said we needed a whole new system. Bright Peak found a failed capacitor and a dirty coil. That was two summers ago and it's still running fine.”
Lisa H. · Meridian
★★★★★
“They installed two ductless heads in our old North End house in a day. The crew was polite, cleaned up, and walked us through the remotes. We finally have air conditioning.”
Daniel V. · Boise
