Fast furnace repair, done right the first time

There's a particular kind of cold that comes from waking up to a quiet furnace in January. The house is 58 degrees and dropping, and every minute matters.

Call Bright Peak and a technician with the common parts on the truck is on the way. We'll find the actual cause, show you the failed part, and give you a flat price before touching anything.

Most furnace repairs are finished the same visit. If yours needs a part we have to order, we'll get you safe heat in the meantime and tell you exactly when we'll be back.

Common furnace problems

What we fix most often

Won't ignite

A cracked hot-surface igniter or a dirty flame sensor is the most common no-heat call we get. Both are quick fixes.

Short cycling

Running for a minute and shutting off usually points to a clogged filter, a limit switch, or an oversized system.

Blower problems

Heat with no airflow, or a motor that hums and quits. Capacitors and blower motors are on the truck.

Strange noises

Banging at startup, squealing belts, rattling panels. Each sound points somewhere specific, and we'll tell you where.

Thermostat issues

Sometimes the furnace is fine and the thermostat isn't talking to it. We check the whole chain before replacing anything.

Yellow burner flames

A yellow or wavering flame means combustion isn't right. That's a safety call, and we treat it as one.

Why a furnace problem shouldn't wait

Most furnace failures start small. A flame sensor that needs cleaning becomes a furnace that locks out on the coldest night. A weak capacitor becomes a burned-out blower motor. Catching it early is almost always the cheaper repair.

Gas furnaces also deserve respect. A cracked heat exchanger or a venting problem can put carbon monoxide into the house. Keep working CO detectors on every floor, and if a furnace is behaving strangely, let a technician look at it rather than resetting it over and over.

What a repair visit looks like

We start with your description, then test the system the way it actually runs: a full cycle from the thermostat call through ignition, heat rise and shutdown. We check static pressure, flame signal, temperature rise and the safety circuit, because a furnace can have two problems at once.

Then you get the diagnosis in plain words, a flat price for the repair, and an honest read on whether it's worth it given the age of the equipment. No work starts until you say so.

Furnace Repair questions

How do I know if my furnace needs repair?+

Uneven heat, a furnace that cycles on and off every few minutes, new noises, a burning smell beyond the first run of the season, or a bill that jumped with no change in your habits. Any of those is worth a call.

How long does a furnace repair take?+

Most are done in one visit, often within an hour or two. Igniters, flame sensors, capacitors, pressure switches and most control boards are on the truck. A blower motor or a rarer part may take a second visit.

Should I repair or replace my furnace?+

If it's under 12 years old and this is a single-part failure, repair. If it's past 15 and has needed work two winters running, we'll quote both so you can compare the repair against a new system with its rebates.

Why does my furnace keep turning on and off?+

Short cycling is usually airflow: a clogged filter, closed vents or a dirty coil making the furnace overheat and trip its limit switch. It can also be a failing flame sensor. Repeated resets don't fix it, so have it looked at.

What should I do while I wait for the technician?+

Check the thermostat is set to heat and the batteries are fresh, make sure the furnace switch and breaker are on, and change the filter if it's dirty. If you smell gas, leave the house and call the gas company first.

“Our furnace quit on a Sunday night in January. They were here Monday morning, showed me the cracked igniter, gave me a price and had it running in under an hour. No upsell, no drama.”

“Second opinion saved us thousands. Another company said we needed a whole new system. Bright Peak found a failed capacitor and a dirty coil. That was two summers ago and it's still running fine.”
Lisa H. · Meridian
★★★★★
“They installed two ductless heads in our old North End house in a day. The crew was polite, cleaned up, and walked us through the remotes. We finally have air conditioning.”
